Jaw-dropping views and mesmerising sunsets await you at The Terrace.
In my humble opinion, not enough people have dared to combine beer gardens with the finest panoramic views of London. So it’s a darn good thing that Alexandra Palace have decided to correct this grievous oversight by opening one of the capital’s biggest beer gardens on their south-facing terrace. Marrying sumptuous views of the capital with all the sunsoaked comforts of the beer garden, it’ll open for business this Saturday, July 4, and has immediately rocketed to the top of our must-visit list.
The Terrace, as the space will be known, will be open on weekends throughout the summer – a summer which is being rapidly salvaged by the return of rooftop hangouts and al fresco drinking, I might add. Covering a whopping 1500 square metres, The Terrace will instantly become one of London’s biggest beer gardens upon opening, and boast a massive bar that’ll serve everything from craft beers to cocktails.

In addition, you’ll be able to pair those sunshine pints with delicious street food, as The Terrace will have no fewer than five street food traders on site. They’re Backstreet Diner, Wood Fired Pizzas, Waffle Float, and a pair of pun-loving spots, Steak It Easy and the frankly brilliant Last Night a Vegan Saved My Life, and the rumour is that brunch options will also be available.
To keep customers safe, The Terrace has plenty of health and safety precautions in the offing, including enhanced cleaning, hand sanitiser units, and social distancing measures. Food and drink will be available by table service only, and all order and payments will go through an app ordering system at your table to ensure that no cash changes hands, and contact with anyone from outside your household is minimised. Advance booking will be required to get onto The Terrace, in order to control the number of guests, and tickets will cost £5 per session.
Plenty of COVID-mandated hoops to jump through, then – but when the reward is some of our favourite sweeping views of London, pint in hand, you can be sure it’s a jump we’re willing to make.
The Terrace opens Saturday, July 4, and the opening hours will be 12-10pm on Friday, and 10am-10pm on Saturdays and Sundays. You’ll need to book in advance, and reservations can be made from July 1 on their website.
