A Cheese Restaurant Will Float Into London In May

Mathew Carver – the brains behind both The Cheese Bar and Pick & Cheese has announced plans for a third restaurant! A floating temple of fromage in Paddington, named The Cheese Barge, is finally set to open up to diners on May 20th 2021. The new place is expected to make waves in the restaurant scene by serving seasonal dishes that hero the very best of British cheese. According to Carver, he spent a lot of his childhood playing with boats, so when this particular opportunity presented itself he just couldn’t resist.

The new place in town is inspired by Venice’s book shop Electa and will have space for 40 in the lower dining room, while the upper deck roof terrace will be open to the elements and designed for people to enjoy drinks and lighter meals.

As for the food – yes, expect a lot of cheese. Head chef Reagan Ellenbroek and exec chef Ross Keeling have come up with a menu that they say is “honest British dishes using small producer cheese”. Things like Windrush goats’ curd with lamb scrumpets and pickled walnuts for example, or Maida Vale served on treacle soda bread with smoked mackerel and green sauce.

It all sounds pretty amazing and we think they’re onto another winner.
